Writing About Pictures: Responding to the Art

Do you see, think, and feel when you look at this picture?

Description

  •  Write about what you see in the picture. You maystart off by listing what is in the image (the nouns).
  • Next, you can include descriptive words (adjectives).

Questioning

  • Write questions you have about the image. These might be questions about the person, setting, or action depicted, or they might be questions you would like to ask the artist.
 Reflecting

  • Write about your own personal reactions to the image
  • . What is the overall mood or message of the picture?
  •  Do you like it or not? Why?
  • It might may be helpful for them to think in terms of themes, for example: hardship, love, work, and daily life.

CONFESSION IS A GREAT GIFT

Too often we think that confession is this scary thing.

We think that this will happen
That we will be judged. That we will be yelled at. Sometimes we may wonder why we need to confess to the priest. Why can't I just ask God for forgiveness ?  These are great questions and we will continue to discuss them tomorrow.

It is important to keep in mind that God already knows all of our sins. Is confession, this public act  of sorrow somehow necessary for us ? Do WE get something from the act or experience of telling our sins out loud to another ? Are we made different by this act of humility? Who is the priest in the confessional?

The Church gives us this gift, the sacrament of reconciliation, as  means of getting closer to our Lord. Christ calls us to be humble and We will continue to discuss this at school. Here is a link to help explain

Facts: Every news article includes simple, true statements about what happened, such as "The fire which destroyed the entire block, was started because of faulty wiring.
Quotations: These retell, word for word, what someone actually said. Usually these quotations come from witnesses at the scene, or experts on a subject. For example:

Mr. Clem, manager of The Bay, said, "It was an inspiring sight  !"
