Persuasive Writing

We have begun our unit on Persuasive Writing. Remember the tips to writing a good speech:

·     Introduce yourself to the audience

·     Thank your audience for listening

·     State your opinion

·     Give reasons why your audience should agree with you

·     Create a catchy/powerful phrase and repeat a few times

·     Ask a rhetorical question

·     Wrap up  with a closing sentence

 

VOLLEY BALL

A special shout out to our awesome volleyball boy team ( our class members Mark and Lucas  especially)  for their fine efforts on Monday. The result might not have been exactly what you wanted, but we are so proud of the hard work, commitment and sportsmanlike behaviour you displayed.

Candy Cane sales for St. Vincent de Paul starts on December 3rd.  Please start bringing in your candy canes. You can get them at Walmart, the Dollar Store or Shoppers Drug Mart.

Volleyball

Congratulations to our Intermediate Boys Volleyball team that were so dominant yesterday at Divisional Tournament. Great job to Lucas and Mark for representing Leger so well !!!

Reminders - Candy Cane sales to start in a few weeks. We are responsible for raising money for this worthy cause. We ask that each person bring in at least one box of candy canes (aprox 60 -100). We are raising money for the less fortunate!

How to Multiply Decimals

Multiplying decimals starts with normal multiplication (ignoring decimal points).

Then the trick is to make sure the answer has as many decimal places as the two original numbers combined.

Cross -country

I have been meaning to congratulate our cross country team members for a fine showing at this year's meets. 

We were  the Divisional Champions and placed second  at Regionals!!! As your coaches, Mr. T and I are so proud of your hard work and resulting fine performance!!! Those early morning and lunch time work outs clearly work!!!

It has been a busy few weeks at Leger. I wanted to spotlight a few of the events that have occurred. In the last few weeks, we have had cross country meets, a Halloween party and a local visit to the nearby high school.

These are just some of the terrific costumes.. They are many more than I can't show because the students' faces are visible.

Special thanks for Chautelle for bringing in all that wonderful spooky stuff and for Taylor, Tyler and Lucas for helping her set it up. Thanks also for all of you for the yummy treats!! You areall  fabulous!

Congratulations to our winning house The Angry Nerds. They won with more points than any other with 26 points.

- The Grade 8s are off to Pope JP 2 High school tomorrow for a workshop.


- The Grade 7s over night trip is fast approaching. Our Outdoor education teacher Agatha is coming to visit our grade 7s on Friday afternoon.
