Today we watched the Nativity Story. Consider the following questions:
The Nativity is a love story. What are some of the examples of love that we find in this story?

How did Joseph show his love for Mary ?

If you were God, would you have chosen the same method to reach humanity? Why or why not?

Like all Jewish women, Mary surely knew the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14. Why do you think she was still so surprised when Gabriel came to her?

How do you think you would respond if an angel of God appeared and spoke to you? Why?

Which of the gifts of the wise men would you most like to receive? Why?
If you were able to give Jesus a material gift today, what would you bring? Why?

  1. How did Joseph show his love for Mary ?
Joseph showed his love for Mary by being nice to her, letting Mary sit on the donkey while Joseph walks, having a baby, and saving Mary from drowning.

  2. How did Joseph show his love for Mary?

Joseph showed his love for Mary by after an angel appeared in his dream he new he had to get Mary back. He had to treat this child with the respect he deserves even if they don't know for sure who the father is. Another way is when they had to go back to their homelands Mary went with Joseph to Bethleham. Mary was pregnant so Joseph let her sit on the donkey and he walked while holding the rope attached to the donkey. He showed Mary his love for her in many ways to try and get forgivness from Mary and God for leaving Mary behind when she told him she was pregnant. Near the end of it all, when Jesus was born you could tell that everything he did he new it was worth it because he ended up with the child of God in front of him.

  3. We see an act of love when Mary wipes Joseph's feet. Joseph gave leftover food to the donkey Mary had been riding. Also Joseph saved Mary when she had fallen into the water on the way to bethlehem.

Joseph showed his love to Mary by letting her ride the donkey to bethlehem while he walked.Joseph also gave Mary food, water, warmth, and shelter. He believed Mary for what she had been saying about her baby.

Yes, because only God would know who would be the best to choose for the bearing of Jesus. Then they must be commited and trust in God and to deliver the birth of a son. That is exactly what Mary and Joseph did with God.

Mary was still surprised because she didn't knoe what God wanted her to do and why she had been chosen to do this task. She was probably very shocked by the fact that an angel came to see her.

Joseph showed Mary his love in many ways. One reason is that Joseph walked the whole trip to Bethlem while Mary was on the donkey.Joseph could of also sat on the donkey but he wanted to protect Mary.Joseph also gave his food to the donkey so it could stay strong and carry Mary but Joseph had to starve.Joseph also risked his life to save Mary from a snake which could of bit him.Overall Mary and Joseph love each other very much. 5. Some examples of love in this story is Mary’s love for god, Joseph’s love for Mary, Joseph and Mary‘s love for Jesus, Mary’s love for her parent, the parents love for that girl, the love of that old man with the sheep’s , the love of the people for god and the love of god for the people. Mary loves god so much she would do this for him. Josephs is understanding, caring, helpful, hard working, kind and a good gentleman man to Mary. Their love for Jesus is by how they reacted when they first saw Jesus. Mary would do anything for her parents. The parent’s reaction when the soldiers took their daughter away. The old man saw that Mary was feeling cold so he let them share the fire with him. People would scarify the cow to god. That god made his only son and scarified him so that people won’t sin. Joseph showed his love for Mary by being understanding, caring, helpful, hard working, kind and a good gentleman man to Mary. No I would chosen the same reach humanity because the way how Mary got a baby, I think that since she got her baby like that it would that the baby was special and so gods would be the father of this baby. She was still surprised because she and josephs weren’t even married yet and because she was shocked to get a baby at this age. I would be scared, surprised, shocked and happy if angel Gabriel because you don’t just see an angel in your dream and that goes with surprised and shocked. I would be happy to because it would mean a good sign. I think it would be gold because how doesn’t like gold, but I like all of them. I would give Jesus a material heart to Jesus because the heart stands for my love to him.

If an angel appeared to me and sent me a message I would be pretty scared at first because it isn’t something that happens every day and I would feel overwhelmed by the angel. After my first moment of shock I would then became amazed and astonished that I was currently talking to a real angel from heaven. I would realize that God had chosen me to receive a message from an angel and it would make me feel special.

  7. 1. Some of the examples of love that we find in this story are Joseph loving Mary, Mary and Joseph loving Jesus and parents loving their children.
    2. Jesus shows his love for Mary by being understanding, helpful and caring.
    3. If I was God, I would have chosen the same understanding, helpful and caring.method to reach humanity because if someone came up to you and told you about it, you wouldn't really believe them.
    4. I think Mary was still so surprised when Gabriel came to her because Gabriel just came out of nowhere.
    5. I think I would be very surprised and frightened if an angel of God appeared and spoke to me because the angel just appeared out of nowhere.
    6. The gifts of the wise men I would most like to receive is the gold because I want to know what it looks like.
    7. If I was able to give Jesus a material gift today, I would bring him socks because his feet wouldn't be very cold.

  8. Joseph showed his love for Mary by not telling anyone that the child that Mary was going to give birth to was not actually his child. He also showed his love for her by letting her sit on the donkey while he walked when they were on their way to Bethlehem. Another thing he did was saving her from drowning when they were in the water. Joseph also didn’t give up when he was looking for a place for Mary to stay when she was going to give birth which also showed his love for her.

  9. Joseph showed his love for Mary by being a true gentlemen. When they were travelling he always let Mary sit on the donkey and he never complained about having to walk. Joseph also showed his love for Mary by planning on doing a quiet divorce. He could have had her killed but he chose to think of her first. He did not let his sadness and anger get the best of him. Joseph also showed his love for Mary by not letting her drown in the river when she fell off the donkey. He could have let her drown but he loved her too much.

  10. Some examples of love in this story are between Mary and Joseph and another example is about the son of God being born from the love of his parents. Joseph showed his love for Mary in many different ways, for example one way is when he let Mary sit on the donkey while they were traveling to Bethlehem, so he had to walk and guide it all the way there even with blisters on his feet. If I were God I think I wouldn't chose the same method to reach humanity, because since the women are the ones to have the baby i'm guessing it would hurt a lot,and if that didn't have to happen it would give you no pain. sometimes a women can be in labour for more than a day!I think Mary was still surprised to see angle Gabriel because, well I think anyone would be surprised to see an angel appear in their room. Even though the prophecy says "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." It's kind of like waking up and seeing a stranger in your house. I think I would respond with a very surprised or, frightened sentence. Maybe I might not even give a response because I would be so shocked. I would most likely like to revive the gold. I would want the gold because I know that it is worth lots of money, so if you would trade the gold for money, you wouldn't be poor, and you can also share the wealth with family members or friends. If I were give Jesus a gift today it would probably be some bathroom items like a comb, mirror, or razor. I chose those things because, well I don't mean to be mean but he didn't really look like a clean and groomed person so he could use them.

  12. I think if an angel of God appeared and spoke to me, I would respond shocked, a little scared, and amazed. I would probably be these things because firstly I never saw it coming, secondly I have never seen an angel in real life, and thirdly why would god send an angel to talk to me?
