Dear Parents,
With a doubt, cellular phones and
other electronic devices can be enormously useful tools to further your child’s
education. This is especially true when appropriately used and supervised.
However when abused, cellphones and other electronic devices may form an
unnecessary distraction and impediment to your child's learning as well as a
significant threat to the safety and privacy of others. As such, at school
these devices may only be used at a teacher's discretion.
As a result of the abuses in the recent past, we
have implemented a ban on cell phones, mp3 players and iPods during
school hours. They may not be used nor may they be visible at
anytime.
This policy is designed to protect the educational program
of all students but not to limit the home/school
communications. In most cases, a student may be given
permission to use an administrative office telephone to contact a
parent/guardian, and in the case of an emergency,
a student may be called out of class to receive a telephone
call from parents/guardians.
No image of any student may be reproduced by means
of pictures, video, or any other electronic means unless the teacher has gained
permission from the parent and respective student.
Students bringing cellular telephones or electronic
devices to school do so at their own risk.
We will not assume any liability for any lost, stolen or damaged
cellular telephone and/or any other electronic devices either in
school or in their possession.
In summary:- Cell phones/electronic devices are to be deactivated during school instructional hours.
- Emergency calls to parents should be made through the school office.
- Cell phones/electronic devices will be confiscated upon use.
- Students must have the permission of the teacher to use the approved device at a specific time.
Thanks,
M. Babb
