HISTORY

PHYSICAL FEATURES OF BNA

- Aboriginals peoples showed Europeans the trade routes.
-It is a lot easier to get from one place to another today than it was in the 1800s.
-Back then,  there were many obstacles to prevent  travel.
-Colonies were far apart.
-They were separated by large distances  and great bodies of water.

-Modern technology( planes, boats, trains, canals, roads ) allow us to travel around Canada a lot easier.

-Colonies of British North America were very far from each other.

-William MacKenzie ( a prime minister of Canada) said that "Canada has too  much geography."
-He meant that Canada was very large and it contained many different physical features.

The Climate in Canada varies from region to region.

  1. 5 facts of Physical Features Of British North America:

    1. During 1850's it would take months to travel from Halifax to Vancouver. This voyage was longer because on ship, you would travel around South America.

    2. Citizens of Canada would call their country "Great White North". This refers to Canada's winter seasons, but there are a variety of climates in different regions of Canada.

    3. Depending on what region you lived in, the climate affects everything. This includes your outdoor work, agriculture, and economy of your region.

    4. His climate in where we live in affect us due to the way we life. Example, of I lived in the North Region, I would have to dress more warmer for the climate. But as in the West Coast, I would wear more appropriate clothing for hot summers.

    5. Regions such as Atlantic and North would have long and cold winters. But unlike West coast, Prairies, and Great Lakes St. Lawrence they have long and warm summers.

  2. 5 facts about British North America are:
    1) The settled areas in the colonies were separated by vast distances, bodies of water and difficult terrain.
    2) Some colonies were separated by geographical barries such as mountains and bodies of water.
    3) Canadians sometimes call their country the "Great White North"
    4) in reality the climate varies enormously from region to region
    5) The length of the seasons and the amount of precipitation influences the agriculture and thus the economy of a region

  3. 1. The First Nations showed the Europeans many of their routes to different areas, allowing them to travel far away before the existence of roads, railways, and canals.

    2. The travel from Halifax to Vancouver in mid 1850s involved three types of travel; boat, horse, and on foot.

    3. The trip from Halifax straight to Vancouver took longer than it would to go around South America by foot.

    4. The climate varies enormously from region to region. For example, the West Coast has warm and moist summers, but temperate and wet winters, while in the Northern Arctic the summer is cool and short while the winter is long and cool.

    5. Climate will affect how different societies develop. In places where the winter is warmer and not as long, outdoor work can be done for a larger portion of the year. Depending on the length of seasons and how much rain an area gets will determine the agriculture and economy of a region.

  4. Five facts I learned about the physical features of BNA are:
-There were many geographical barriers, such as mountains, making it harder to transport quickly.
-There were many different climates in different parts of BNA that would change your living conditions.
-"Great White North" was what citizens of Canada would call Canada.
-British North America was made up of colonies such as New Found Land, Nova Scotia, New Bruinswick, North West Territories, PEI, etc.

  5. Physical Features of British North America : 5 Facts

    - Even though our climates vary depending on which region Canadians called their home "The Great White North "

-In the 1800s they had no way of predicting weather so daily lives were greatly affected if it rained, snowed, hailed or if there was any other types of weather that prevented work

    - Canadians' agriculture and economy greatly depended on the weather

-It would. Take months to travel from Halifax to Vancouver due to multiple natural obstacles such as lakes and mountains

-Only the west coast has wet and temperate winters
