Samuel de Champlain-Father of New France
Samuel de Champlain was so important in the development of New France because he founded it. At first it was a settlement, but it soon began to grow. Champlain formed an alliance with the Huron, and helped them by fighting the Iroquois along side the Huron. Due to Champlain killing the Iroquois chiefs, the Huron won. I think this strengthened the alliance, so the Huron allowed Champlain to expand his settlement into a colony. For the next 20 years, Champlain worked very hard to build this colony for New France. By the time of his death, he had the title of "The Father of New France."
