The Sneak Attack
In spring of 1759, British General James Wolfe led his troops to capture Quebec. He had the most 200 ships, 9000 soldier, 18 000 sailors, 2000 cannons, and 40 000 cannonballs. General Wolfe decided to attack on the Beauport shore. The British suffered a defeat losing 440 men. General Wolfe planned to deceive the French into thinking he was going to attack the Beauport shore again. But Wolfe was really studying the French defense. The French General Montcalm sent his best troops to the Beauport shore. The French waited at Beauport shore. Wolfe decided to attack Quebec, using his troops to climb Anse-au-foulon a steep narrow path, used by the French to get water, Wolfe and 5000 troops climbed the Anse-au-foulon to the Plains of Abraham. On September, 13 1759, Wolfe and his army waited for the French. The French rushed from Beauport shores to defend Quebec they were very tired, the British used the "thin Red Line" 3 line of soldiers, each line had a loaded gun ready for the French troops. The French didn't have a chance. Both Generals died in the Plain of Abraham.
